| Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee has considered matters relating to Telefilm Canada and reports the following: | Conformément à l'article 108(2) du Règlement, le comité a étudié des questions relatives à Téléfilm Canada et fait rapport de ce qui suit: |
| Whereas the resounding success of feature films in Quebec will not continue unless new sources of funding are injected into French-language film productions; | Attendu que le succès retentissant de longs métrages au Québec ne durera que si de nouvelles sources de financement sont injectées dans les productions cinématographiques de langue française; |
| Whereas there has been a permanent $2M cut in the Feature Film Fund and Telefilm Canada’s capacity to invest has been reduced by the impact of inflation; | Attendu que Le Fonds du long métrage a connu une coupure permanente de 2M$ et que la capacité d’investissement de Téléfilm Canada a été diminuée par l’impact de l’inflation; |
| Whereas the cost of production has increased incessantly, as have the funding applications to Telefilm; | Attendu que le coût de production n’a cessé d’augmenter, de même que les demandes de financement auprès de Téléfilm; |
| Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage recommends that the government, as a matter of urgency, allocate an adequate recurring amount to the Feature Film Fund, as called for by the industry. | Conformément à l’article 108(2) du Règlement, le Comité Permanent du Patrimoine Canadien recommande au gouvernement d'apporter de toute urgence au Fonds du long métrage un montant récurent adéquat tel que réclamé par l'industrie. |
