The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met in a televised session at 3:25 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Earl Dreeshen, Gerald Keddy, Larry Maguire, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Bev Shipley and Bob Zimmer.

Acting Members present: Alex Atamanenko for Ruth Ellen Brosseau and Hon. John McKay for Hon. Mark Eyking.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst ; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

Appearing: Hon. Gerry Ritz, P.C., M.P., Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2015-16: Votes 1, 5 and 10 under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD, Vote 1 under CANADIAN DAIRY COMMISSION, Vote 1 under CANADIAN GRAIN COMMISSION, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February, 24, 2015.

The Chair called Vote 1 under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD.

The Minister made a statement and, with Pierre Corriveau and Greg Meredith, answered questions.

At 4:13 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit until 4:30 p.m.
