Background

Mr. Paproski (Edmonton North) rose on a point of order to make a correction to the Debates, following a statement made the previous day by Mr. McRae (Thunder Bay—Atikokan) during the debate on the motion for third reading of Bill C-112, An Act to Amend the Statute Law Relating to Certain Taxes. The Speaker ruled immediately.

Can a Member correct a statement made in the House by another Member?

Decision

No. A Member can only correct his own statement.

Reasons given by the Speaker

A Member is free to correct his own statement, but he cannot correct another Member's statement.
