Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)d) and the Centennial Flame Research Award Act, the committee commenced its study of the 2018 Centennial Flame Research Award.

Tara Collins made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:39 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.

Questioning of the witness resumed.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, the amount for the 2022 Centennial Flame Research Award be set at $6,700; that the deadline for submitting an application be set at Friday, September 30, 2022; that a press release be published on the committee’s website; and that the Chair and the clerk of the committee be authorized to employ means in order to publicize the award.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $26,750, for the study of the Housing Accelerator Fund, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in the context of the study of the Housing Accelerator Fund, a press release be published on the committee’s website.

Motion

Bonita Zarrillo moved, — That the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities call upon the government to codify all people who receive provincial support for their disability as people with disabilities in order to facilitate the ease of payment of a future benefit for a disabled person, and that the government table a comprehensive response thereto.

Debate arose thereon.

At 4:57 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), the sitting was suspended.

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The committee resumed consideration of the motion of Bonita Zarrillo, — That the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities call upon the government to codify all people who receive provincial support for their disability as people with disabilities in order to facilitate the ease of payment of a future benefit for a disabled person, and that the government table a comprehensive response thereto.

The debate continued.

Amendment

Soraya Martinez Ferrada moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “the government to” the following: “consider the possibility of codifying”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Soraya Martinez Ferrada and it was agreed to.

Soraya Martinez Ferrada moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “, and that the government table a comprehensive response thereto” with the following: “; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to this report”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Soraya Martinez Ferrada and it was agreed to.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities call upon the government to consider the possibility of codifying all people who receive provincial support for their disability as people with disabilities in order to facilitate the ease of payment of a future benefit for a disabled person; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to this report.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee commenced its study of disability support benefits.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

On motion of Ron Liepert, it was agreed, — That the committee do now adjourn.

At 5:34 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
