On Monday, January 30, 2023 the committee adopted the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake an immediate review of the lengthy delay of eight years between the expiration of the last Softwood Lumber Agreement between Canada and the United States and reasons why this delay has continued to hold up progress on a bilateral deal, and the impact of the U.S. preliminary duty rates on Canadian Softwood Lumber by the United States Department of Commerce; that the committee invite the Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development and other Government officials and experts the committee deems relevant; that the committee hold a minimum of two meetings; that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that this study commence immediately after the study on non-tariff barriers.
