M-631 Situation in Sudan

Motion Text

That, in the opinion of the House, the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan requires immediate attention and action on the part of the Government of Canada and the international community, in order to: (a) address the problem of displaced persons, including 430 000 people displaced in Darfur in 2014 alone; (b) ensure that all parties to the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur meet their obligations under the Document; (c) support the work of the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), and play an active and constructive role in the Friends of UNAMID group; (d) facilitate applications for refugee status by Sudanese claimants; and (e) support international efforts to provide relief and assistance to Sudanese refugees.
