Petition to the Prime Minister

• The National Flag of Canada represents the principles of freedom, democracy, courage, and justice upon which our great nation is based;
• The Canadian Flag is a national symbol which represents all the citizens of Canada;
• The Canadian Flag represents pride in our great nation and support for those who have sacrificed their lives for it;
• The Flag should be half-masted on all federal buildings and establishments in Canada, including the Peace Tower, from sunrise to sunset on September 30th in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and in order to express a collective sense of grief over the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families and communities; and
• The Government of Canada should comply with all rules for half-masting the National Flag of Canada.
