Pursuant to the order of reference of Tuesday, February 27, 2024, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-58, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code and the Canada Industrial Relations Board Regulations, 2012.

Ginette Brazeau, Dave Carey and Robert Ghiz made statements and, with Eric Smith, answered questions.

At 9:19 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:27 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, June 2, 2023, the committee resumed its study of the implications of artificial intelligence technologies for the Canadian labour force.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "’Implications of Artificial Intelligence Technologies for the Canadian Labour Force".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of briefs in relation to the study of Bill C-322, An Act to develop a national framework to establish a school food program be Thursday, May 23, 2024.

It was agreed, — That the following witness: Serge Cormier, sponsor of Bill C-322, An Act to develop a national framework to establish a school food program be invited to appear in relation to the Bill.

It was agreed, — That each party submit the name of one witness in relation to the study of Bill C-322, An Act to develop a national framework to establish a school food program.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $23,000, for the study of Bill C-58, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code and the Canada Industrial Relations Board Regulations, 2012, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $1,500 for the study of the Main Estimates 2024-25: Vote 1 Under Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Votes 1 and 5 under Canadian Accessibility Standards Development Organization, Vote 1 under Canadian Centre For Occupational Health And Safety, and Votes 1 and 5 under Department of Employment And Social Development, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $4,500, for the study of Bill C-322, An Act to develop a national framework to establish a school food program, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $25,000, for the study of Federal Housing Investments, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $13,000, for the study of Canada without Barriers by 2040, be adopted.

At 10:14 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
