Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the committee commenced its study of environmental and human rights considerations regarding Canadian mining firms abroad.

Catherine Coumans, Ian Thomson and Lisa McDonald made statements and, with Jeff Killeen, answered questions.

At 12:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:43 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of potential trade impacts of the United States Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 on certain firms and workers in Canada, the proposed preliminary submission for the committee’s travel to Washington, DC, during spring 2023 be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of trade opportunities for Canadian businesses in the Indo-Pacific, the proposed preliminary submissions for the committee’s travel to Singapore and New Delhi during spring 2023 be adopted.

At 12:58 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
