Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, October 3, 2022, the committee commenced its study of allegations that medical assistance in dying was offered to a Veteran unprompted by a Veterans Affairs Canada employee.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

On motion of Luc Desilets, it was agreed, — That, once finalized, Veterans Affairs Canada provide the committee with a copy of the investigation report on the allegations that medical assistance in dying was offered to a veteran unprompted by a Veterans Affairs Canada employee.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:39 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That members of the committee submit their prioritized witness lists for the study of national strategy for Veterans employment after service to the clerk of the committee by no later than Friday, October 28, 2022, 4:00 p.m.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the clerk of the committee presided over the election of a vice-chair.

On motion of Rachel Blaney, it was agreed, — That Blake Richards be elected First Vice-Chair of the committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, October 3, 2022, the committee resumed its study of allegations that medical assistance in dying was offered to a Veteran unprompted by a Veterans Affairs Canada employee.

Paul Ledwell and Steven Harris answered questions.

On motion of Churence Rogers, it was agreed, — That the committee do now adjourn.

At 5:38 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
