Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the committee resumed its study of the situation in Afghanistan.

The Minister made a statement and, with Bill Matthews, Wayne D. Eyre, J.R Auchterlonie and Steve Boivin, answered questions.

At 7:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Motion

Jenny Kwan moved, — That the committee ask IRCC to confirm that they have received the 3,800 applications referred by the Department of National Defence; and, that IRCC advise the Committee: how many have been processed with an invitation and assigned a G-number, how many have arrived in Canada, and when could the rest of the 2,900 applications be expect to be processed.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe, Michael D. Chong, Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, Jasraj Singh Hallan, Jenny Kwan, Alex Ruff — 6;

At 8:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
