Tuesday, February 29, 2000
The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 10:36 a.m. ,this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Hélène Alarie, Mark Assad, Rick Borotsik, Garry Breitkreuz, Murray Calder, Odina Desrochers, John Harvard, Howard Hilstrom, Gar Knutson, Larry McCormick, Joe McGuire, Ian Murray, Dick Proctor, Paul Steckle, Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Member present: Roy Bailey for Gerry Ritz.
Other Members present: Lee Morrison; Rick Casson.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch - Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher; Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.
Witnesses: From the Farm Credit Corporation: John Ryan, President and Chief Executive Officer; Jacques Lagacé, National Director, Government and Industry Relations; Louise Neveu, Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to hold a Briefing Session on the Farm Credit Corporation.
John Ryan made an opening statement and, with other witnesses, answered questions.
At 12:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
