The Standing Committee on Industry met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Pierre Brien, Marlene Jennings, Walt Lastewka, Gurbax Malhi, Charlie Penson, Jerry Pickard and Susan Whelan.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw and Geoffrey Kieley, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Brewster Transportation & Tours: David Morrison, President and Chief Executive Officer. From the Professional Institute of the Public Services of Canada (The): Steve Hindle, President; Andy Zajchowski, Negotiator. From the "Office des Congrès et du Tourisme du Grand Montréal": The Hon. Charles Lapointe, President and Executive Director. From Via Rail Canada Inc.: Christena Keon Sirsly, Vice President, Marketing.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Wednesday, May 10, 2000, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-5, An Act to establish the Canadian Tourism Commission (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, May 30, 2000, Meeting No. 57).

David Morrison and Steve Hindle made statements and answered questions.

At 10:24 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:33 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The Hon. Charles Lapointe and Christena Keon Sirsly made statements and answered questions.

At 11:38 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
