The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Scott Brison, Nick Discepola, Richard Harris, Rahim Jaffer, Sophia Leung, Grant McNally, Maria Minna, Lorne Nystrom, Charlie Penson, Pauline Picard, Bryon Wilfert.

Acting Member(s) present: Bernard Patry for Roy Cullen, Julian Reed for Albina Guarnieri, Joe McGuire for Shawn Murphy, Dominic LeBlanc for Gary Pillitteri, Richard Marceau for Yvan Loubier.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Acting Principal, Blayne Haggart and Marc-André Pigeon, Research Officers.

Witness(es): From the Bank of Canada: David A. Dodge, Governor; Malcolm Knight, Senior Deputy Governor; Paul Jenkins, Deputy Governor.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of the Bank of Canada's Monetary Policy Report, April 2002.

David Dodge made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
