[Recorded by Electronic Apparatus]
(1535)
[English]
[Translation]
Good day, Mr. Chairman. It will surely come as no surprise to you that I would like you to call a vote on the motion brought forward by our colleague Dominic Leblanc, so that we can move on with our work. As you know, pursuant to our standing orders, when a ruling by the chair is appealed, a vote is automatically held and the question is not open for debate. You yourself have invoked the standing orders on occasion in the case of amendments to bills. I would imagine that there have not been any changes recently to the standing orders. I think all members want to resume this study, but they also want to abide by the standing orders. Therefore, I would like you to call immediately a recorded division on this motion.
[English]
Thank you for your intervention, Monsieur Ménard.
I do respect the procedures and the purpose behind which committees sit. There are rules and there's a mandate for the committee. You know that as well as I. The mandate of the committee does not warrant study of this particular motion that was put forward by Monsieur LeBlanc.
It was ruled out of order five times, and this will be the sixth time. As a result, I will vacate the chair, and that is exactly what I'm going to do.
