Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, March 22, 2023, the committee commenced consideration of Bill S-224, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (trafficking in persons).

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:56 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 22, 2022, the committee resumed its study of Extradition Law reform.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Reforming Canada’s Extradition System".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

ORDERED, — That the clerk and analysts of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.
The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in the context of Bill C-295, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (neglect of vulnerable adults), the deadline for the submission of amendments to the clerk of the committee be no later than Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $7,250, for the study of Bill C-295, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (neglect of vulnerable adults), be adopted.

It was agreed, — That witnesses lists for the study of Bill S-224, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (trafficking in persons) be submitted no later than Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

It was agreed, — That, for the meeting of Monday, June 5, 2023, the committee study the subject matter of Main Estimates 2023-24 for the first hour and hears from the Minister and department officials, and for the second hour hears witnesses in relation with its study on Bill S-224.

It was agreed, — That, for the meeting of Wednesday, June 7, 2023, the committee study Bill C-41.

It was agreed, — That, for the meeting of Monday, June 12, 2023, the committee study Bill C-295.

At 5:36 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
