Tabling of documents

Pursuant to Standing Order 79(3), the Speaker read the following message from Her Excellency the Governor General, presented by Sean Fraser (Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency):

Message on Estimates
Her Excellency the Governor General transmits to the House of Commons the Supplementary Estimates (A) of sums required to defray expenses of the federal public administration for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2026, and, in accordance with section 54 of the Constitution Act, 1867, recommends those estimates to the House of Commons.

Sean Fraser (Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), for Shafqat Ali (President of the Treasury Board), laid before the House, — Document entitled "Supplementary Estimates (A), 2025-26" (USB key included). — Sessional Paper No. 8520-451-2.

Pursuant to order made Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, were deemed referred to a committee of the whole:

Communications Security Establishment, Vote 1a

Department of National Defence, Votes 1a, 5a and 10a

Business of Supply

The order was read for the consideration of the business of supply.

Jasraj Hallan (Calgary East), seconded by Eric Lefebvre (Richmond—Arthabaska), moved, — That, given that,

(i) the Prime Minister said he will be held to account by prices Canadians pay at the grocery store,
(ii) under the Liberal government, food inflation continues to rise, forcing families to eat less nutritious foods,
(iii) Canadian families will pay $16,834 for food this year, an $800 increase from last year,

the House call on the government to present a fiscally responsible budget before the House adjourns for the summer, that reverses Liberal inflationary policies so Canadians can afford to put food on the table.

Debate arose thereon.

At 6:21 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to order made Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the House resolved itself into a committee of the whole for the consideration of all votes in the Main Estimates and the Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026.
