Thursday, April 6, 2000
The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Cannis, Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Walt Lastewka, Gurbax Malhi, Dan McTeague, Ian Murray, Charlie Penson, Jerry Pickard, Nelson Riis and Susan Whelan.
Acting Member present: Suzanne Tremblay for Pierre Brien.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Gérald Lafrenière and Geoff Kiely, Research Officers.
Appearing: The Hon. John Manley, Minister of Industry.
Witnesses: From the Department of Industry: Andreï Sulzenko, Assistant Deputy Minister, Industry and Science Policy; Mary Zamparo, Corporate Comptroller.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated February 29, 2000, Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2001 - Votes under INDUSTRY; and Performance Report - Industry Canada for the period ending March 31, 1999.
The Minister made a statement and answered questions.
