The Standing Committee on Finance met at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Albina Guarnieri, Rahim Jaffer, Sophia Leung, Yvan Loubier, John McCallum, Shawn Murphy, Lorne Nystrom, Gary Pillitteri.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marc-André Pigeon, Researcher.

Witnesses: From Canadian Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors: Bill Strain, Chair, Taxation, Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU); David Thibaudeau, President and Chief Executive Officer. From Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Bob Friesen, President. From Insurance Bureau of Canada: Paul Kovacs, Senior Vice-President, Policy Development and Chief Economist; Suzanne Sabourin, Executive Director, Government Relations.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its study on Pre-Budget Consultations.

David Thibaudeau, Bob Friesen and Paul Kovacs made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 12:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
