MEETING No. 52

Tuesday, APRIL 21, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eleni Bakopanos, Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul DeVillers, Sheila Finestone, Paul E. Forseth, Derek Lee, John Maloney, Peter Mancini, John McKay.

Other Member present: Bill Gilmour

In attendance: : From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst, Nancy Holmes, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada: John Grace, Commissioner; Alan Leadbeater, Deputy Commissioner.

In accordance with its Order of Reference of Thursday, February 26, 1998, the Committee resumed its consideration of the Main Estimates for 1998-1999 (See Minutes of Proceedings, Monday, April 20, 1998, Issue No. 50).

By unanimous consent, the Chair called Vote 40 under JUSTICE

John Grace made a statement and, with Alan Leadbeater, answered questions.

At 4:46, the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
