MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 2

Tuesday, February 2, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Corrections and Conditional Release Act met in camera at 9:11 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, John Maloney, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Paul DeVillers, Peter MacKay, John Maloney, Richard Marceau, Lynn Myers, Jacques Saada and Tom Wappel.

Acting Member present: Jim Abbott for Jim Gouk.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lynn Casavant, Researcher; Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.

Witness: From the Criminal Lawyers' Association: Sandra Leonard, Chair, Corrections Committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), a comprehensive review of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act

The Committee considered its future business.

It was agreed, - That the budget submission totalling $ 260,961.69 for travel to various locations during 4 periods from March 2 to May 14 be approved.

At 10:30 the sitting was suspended.

At 10:35 the sitting resumed in public.

The witness made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 11:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
