Tuesday, December 1st, 1998

The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment met at 3:39 p.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Sarmite Bulte, Charlie Penson, Benoît Sauvageau, Bob Speller.

Acting Member present: Maud Debien for Benoît Sauvageau.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerald Schmitz and Daniel Dupras, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Alan Kessel, Director, United Nations, Criminal and Treaty Law Division; Keith M. Morrill, Deputy Director, Criminal Law Privilege and Immunities Section; Marie-Josée Rhéaume, Desk Officer, Criminal Law Privilege and Immunities Section. From the Department of Justice: Douglas Breithaupt, Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section; Yvan Roy, Senior General Counsel.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee convened a briefing session on the OECD Anti-corruption Convention.

Alan Kessell and Keith Morrill from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade made statements.

Yvan Roy from the Department of Justice made a statement.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 4:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
