MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 1
Tuesday, October 26, 1999
The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment and the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in a joint session in camera at 9:38 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chairs, Sarmite Bulte and Bill Graham, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, André Bachand, Bill Blaikie, Sarmite Bulte, Richard Marceau, Deepak Obhrai, Alex Shepherd, Bob Speller.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Daniel Dupras, Gerald Schmitz, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee commenced its examination of the Draft Report on Canada's priority interests in the FTAA process
It was agreed, -That the Committee authorize the printing of dissenting opinions as an appendix to this Report immediately following the signature of the Chair and that the dissenting opinions be limited to no more than five(5) pages, to be delivered to the Clerk of the Committee no later than noon Thursday, October 28, 1999 in both official languages.
By unanimous consent, it was agreed, -That the Committees meet jointly on Wednesday, October 27, 1999 in order to resume consideration of a Draft Report on Canada's priority interests in the FTAA process.
At 12:05 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
