Tuesday, May 30, 2000

The Sub-Committee on Improved Financial Reporting to Parliament of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 3:43 p.m. this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Scott Brison, Marlene Catterall, Yvon Godin, Benoît Sauvageau and Paul Szabo.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat: Richard Neville, Deputy Comptroller General; John Morgan, Senior Director, Financial Management and Accounting Policy; Andrew M. Lieff, Senior Director, Expenditure Operations and Estimates Division, Planning, Performance and Reporting Sector; Martin Ulrich, Senior Director, Results Measurement and Accountability, Comptrollership Branch. From the Centre for Collaborative Government: Donald G. Lenihan, Director.

Pursuant to the Order adopted by the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs on Thursday, May 4, 2000, consideration of measures and procedures to improve financial reporting to Parliament.

Richard Neville and Donald G. Lenihan made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:00 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
