MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Monday, November 4, 2002
The Standing Committee on Finance met at 1:40 p.m. this day, in Vancouver at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel in Harbourside Ballroom 1, the Vice-Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Roy Cullen, Nick Discepola, Richard Harris, Sophia Leung and Shawn Murphy.
Acting Member present: Svend Robinson for Lorne Nystrom.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Acting Principal. From the Committees Directorate: Jeffrey Leblanc, Committee Clerk.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators: Jennifer Orum, National Board Member, Financial Aid and Awards, U. of Victoria. From the David Suzuki Foundation: Jim Fulton, Executive Director; Gerry Scott, Climate Change Director; Dermot Foley, Policy Analyst, Climate Change and Energy. From the Greater Vancouver Gateway Council: R.V. Wilds, Managing Director; Brad Eshleman, Member of the Board, President, B.C. Wharf Operators Association. From the Parents for Child Care: Necole Anderson, Steering Committee Member. From the Fuel Cells Canada: Ron Britton, President and CEO; Christopher T. Curtis, Vice President. From the Indian Taxation Advisory Board: Chief Clarence (Manny) Jules, Chair. From the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre: John Nightingale, President. From the Vancouver Board of Trade: Janette Pantry, Director; Dave Park, Assistant Managing Director and Chief Economist.
Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its pre-budget discussions.
Jennifer Orum, Jim Fulton, Gerry Scott, Dermot Foley, R.V. Wilds and Nicole Anderson made opening statements and, with the other witness answered questions.
At 3:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 3:13 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Ron Britton, Chief Clarence (Manny) Jules, John Nightingale and Janette Pantry made opening statements and, with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 4:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
