Friday, November 8, 2002
The Standing Committee on Finance met at 1:21 p.m. this day, in Winnipeg at the Winnipeg Convention Centre in the Pan Am Room, the Acting Chair, Roy Cullen, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Roy Cullen.
Acting Members present: Pat Martin for Lorne Nystrom, Reg Alcock for Sue Barnes, Raymond Simard for Shawn Murphy.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Acting Principal. From the Committees Directorate: Diane Deschamps, Committee Clerk.
Witnesses: From the Assembly of First Nations: Perry Bellegarde, Saskatchewan Vice-Chief; Richard Powless, Special Advisor. From the Métis National Council of Women: Sheila D. Genaille, President; Joyce Gus, Director. From the National Aboriginal Voluntary Organization: Damon Johnston, Co-Chair; Wayne Helgason, Board Member. From the Native Women's Association of Canada: Terri Brown, President; Sherry Lewis, Chair, Finance.
Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its pre-budget discussions.
Perry Bellegarde, Sheila D. Genaille, Damon Johnston, Wayne Helgason and Terri Brown made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 2:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
