The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Odina Desrochers, Roger Gaudet, Mac Harb, Gerald Keddy, Philip Mayfield, Shawn Murphy, Beth Phinney, Tony Tirabassi and John Williams.

Acting Member present: Ken Epp for Val Meredith.

In attendance: From thePparliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Analysts.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Shahid Minto, Assistant Auditor General; Ronald Campbell, Principal. From the Department of Public Works and Government Services: Carol Beal, Assistant Deputy Minister, Real Property Program Branch; Rodney Monette, Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee commenced consideration of Chapter 8 (Public Works and Government Services Canada - Acquisition of Office Space) of the December 2002 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

Shahid Minto and Carol Beal made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
