Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee proceeded to a briefing on trauma-informed practices.

Karis Callaway and Martin Gravel made statements and, with Elizabeth Cyr and Melanie Baron, answered questions.

At 10:04 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 10:07 a.m., the meeting resumed.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your subcommittee met on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to consider the business of the committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1) That the Minister of Veterans Affairs and officials be invited to appear for two hours at her earliest availability;

2) That the Minister of Veterans Affairs and officials be invited to appear for two hours on the Budget, as soon as the Budget is released;

3) That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study, of no fewer than 6 meetings, on suicide prevention among veterans, that members submit their lists of witnesses to the Clerk by Friday, September 26 at 4:00 p.m., that the committee report its findings to the House, and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report;

4) That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake two studies, one on the experience of Indigenous veterans, and a second on the experience of Black veterans; that the evidence and documentation received by the committee during the first Session of the 44th Parliament in relation to its study of the experience of Indigenous and Black veterans be taken into consideration by the committee in the current session; and that the committee hold at least one meeting to receive witness testimony in relation to the study of the experience of Black veterans;

5) That, immediately upon completion of the studies on suicide prevention among veterans, the experience of Indigenous veterans, and the experience of Black veterans, the committee undertake a study pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), respecting the work of the committee in the twelfth report of the 44th Parliament entitled “National Strategy for Veterans Employment”, the committee undertake a study to assess what barriers to entrepreneurship may exist for Veterans in Canada, to identify potential public and private sector opportunities for engagement and collaboration with aspiring Veteran entrepreneurs, to hear from Veterans with relevant experience, and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House.
