MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 28

Tuesday, October 2, 2001

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block for the election of a Chair and two Vice-Chairs.

Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Yvon Charbonneau, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Joe Fontana, Paul Forseth, John Godfrey, Art Hanger, Steve Mahoney, Inky Mark, Anita Neville, Jerry Pickard, David Price, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Members present: Yvan Grose for Tony Valeri, Bob Mills for Lynne Yelich.

Other Member present: Jean-Yves Roy.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(1) and (2), election of a Chair and Vice-Chairs

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair.

On motion of David Price, it was agreed, -That Joe Fontana do take the Chair of this Committee.

The Chair presided over the election of Vice-Chairs.

On motion of Mark Assad, it was agreed, -That Steve Mahoney be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Bob Mills, it was agreed, That Paul Forseth be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

It was agreed that an invitation be sent to the Minister to appear before the Committee during the week of October 15, 2001.

At 4:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
