Thursday, March 4, 1999
The Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.
Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Deborah Grey, Joe Jordan, Mark Muise, The Hon. Andy Scott.
Acting Member(s) present: Pat Torsney for Nancy Karetak-Lindell and Hon. Sheila Finestone for Judi Longfield.
Other Member(s) present: Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Sandra Harder, Researcher; Bill Young.
Appearing: From the Department of Human Resources Canada: The Hon. Pierre Pettigrew, Minister of Human Resources Development.
Witness(es): From the Department of Human Resources Canada: Susan Scotti, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister. From Human Resources Investment Branch: Victor Rabinovitch, Assistant Deputy Minister, Income Security Programs
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) study of matters relating to the proposing, promoting, monitoring and assessing of initiatives aimed at the integration and equality of disabled persons in all sectors of Canadian Society
Hon. Pierre Pettigrew made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 5:12 p.m. on motion of Sheila Finestone it was agreed, - That the chair be authorized to hold meetings in order to receive evidence when a quorum is not present, provided that three (3) members of the Committee be present and provided that one member of the opposition be present.
At 5:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
