Meeting No. 2
Wednesday, December 15, 1999
The Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Deborah Grey, Joe Jordan, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Mark Muise and Karen Redman.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Bill Young, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Association of Community Living: Connie Laurin-Bowie, Director, Policy and Programs. From the Caledon Institute of Social Policy: Sherri Torjman, Vice-President. From the Council of Canadians with Disabilities: Harry Beatty, Legal Counsel. From the University of Toronto: David Duff, Faculty of Law. From Williams Research: Gregory Williams, President. From the Department of Finance: Louis Lévesque, General Director, Tax Policy Branch.
Pursuant to its mandate dated October 28, 1999, the Sub-committee proceeded to the consideration of tax measures respecting persons with disabilities.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:21 p.m., the Sub-committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
