Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the committee resumed its study of application backlogs and processing times.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 3:57 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:01 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "In Demand Yet Unprocessed: Endemic Immigration Backlogs".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

At 4:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, October 7, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the government's response to the final report of the Special Committee on Afghanistan.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding item 2 in the subcommittee report adopted on Friday, October 28, 2022, regarding the Government's Response to the Final Report of the Special Committee on Afghanistan, the decision to report its findings to the House be rescinded and the committee issue a letter to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship with its findings and recommendations.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee invite the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and the Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs to appear as soon as possible, for one hour each, to answer the committee’s questions concerning migrant trafficking and smuggling and the measures the government intends to implement to put an end to these illegal activities that exploit vulnerable people and compromise their safety.

At 5:36 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the committee do now adjourn.

At 5:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
