MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 9

Wednesday, September 26, 2001

The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Antoine Dubé, Deepak Obhrai, Beth Phinney, Svend Robinson.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee. 

Witness: The Ambassador for Colombia: H.E. Fanny Kertzman.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed its study of human rights, development and other matters in Colombia.

H.E. Fanny Kertzman made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 4:41 p.m., by unanimous consent, the Committee proceeded to the consideration of its future business.

On motion of Deepak Obhrai, it was agreed, --That the Primate of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan be invited to appear before the Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at 3:30 p.m.

At 4:43 p.m., pursuant to S.O. 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of human rights, development and other matters in Colombia.

Questioning of the witness continued.

At 5:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
