MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 5
Thursday, March 16, 2000
The Sub-Committee on International Financial Reporting Guidelines and Standards for the Public Sector of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:24 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Mac Harb, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Benoît Sauvageau and John Williams.
Acting Member present: Jean Augustine for Mac Harb.
Other Member present: John Finlay.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.
The Sub-Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters relating to the business of the Sub-Committee.
John Richardson moved, - That the Minutes of Proceedings of the Sub-Committee meeting of Thursday, March 2, 2000, be revised to indicate that "the motion of Mac Harb was agreed to, on the following recorded division: YEAS: Mac Harb; Steve Mahoney; John Richardson -- 3; NAYS: Benoît Sauvageau -- 1".
After debate, the question being put on the motion of John Richardson, it was, by a show of hands, agreed to: YEAS: 3; NAYS: 1.
Benoît Sauvageau moved, - That the motion adopted March 2 which read as follows: "That the Sub-Committee seek the authority to travel to Washington, D.C. from May 7 to 10, 2000, in relation to its study on international financial reporting guidelines and standards for the public sector and that the necessary staff accompany the Sub-Committee" be rescinded.
And debate arising thereon;
Mac Harb moved, - That the question be now put.
The Chair ruled that the motion of Mac Harb was out of order as the previous question cannot be moved in any committee.
And debate resumed on the motion of Benoît Sauvageau.
At 4:07 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
