Meeting No. 63

Wednesday, February 10, 1999

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in camera at 3:24 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, Maurice Dumas, John Godfrey, Raymond Lavigne, Wendy Lill, Clifford Lincoln, Ted McWhinney and Suzanne Tremblay.

Acting Members present: Serge Charbonneau for Mauril Bélanger; Denis Coderre for Sarmite Bulte, Mark Scott for Eric Lowther; John Duncan for Jim Pankiw; and Claude Bachand for Suzanne Tremblay.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Gaston Blais and Luc Gagné, Research Officers.

Witness(es):From the Nunavut Wildlife Management Board: Michael d'Eça, Legal Advisor; From the Campbell River Indian Band: John Henderson, Chief.

The Committee considered matters related to future business.

Suzanne Tremblay moved, - That John Cripton be invited to prepare a written submission to the Committee.

After debate, the motion was negatived by a show of hands.

At 4:00 o'clock p.m., the in camera session concluded.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated Tuesday, December 1, 1998, a study of Bill C-48, An Act respecting marine conservation areas.

At 4:01 o'clock p.m., John Henderson made a statement and answered questions.

Micahel d'Eça made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
