MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
Thursday, October 23, 1997
The Standing Committee on Finance met in televised session at 1:05 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 253-D, Centre Block , the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Dick Harris, Jim Jones, Gilles A. Perron, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman, Paul Szabo and Paddy Torsney.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Richard Domingue and Marion Wrobel, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the University of Western Ontario: David Laidler, Department of Economics. From Direct Sellers Association: Vic Prendergast, President; W. Jack Millar, Millar, Wyslobicky, Kreklewetz, Tax Lawyers and Linda J. Herron, Vice President, Electrolux. From Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council: Tom Brzustowski, President.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultation Study. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, October 15, 1997, Meeting No. 3).
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 2:00 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
