Monday, February 22, 1999

The Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:15 p.m. this day, in Hotel Newfoundland, Salons A, Cavendish Square, St. John's, Newfoundland, the Chair, Inky Mark, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Joe Jordan, Inky Mark and Suzanne Tremblay.

In attendance: From Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gaston Blais, Researcher.

Round Table Participants: From the Art Gallery of Newfoundland and Labrador: Patricia Grattan, Director. From the Canadian Council of Archives: Carman V. Carroll, Coordinator, Cain Initiative; Larry Dohey. From the Newfoundland and Labrador Crafts Development Association: Anne Manuel, Executive Director. From the Newfoundland Broadcasting Company: Keith Soper, Sales Manager. From the Provincial Archives of Newfoundland and Labrador: Shelley M. Smith, Provincial Archivist. The Chair made opening remarks and with the participants and members proceeded to a round table discussion and invited comments from the audience.

At 5:35 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:45 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Elizabeth M. Bathstone, Penny Houlden, Michael Clair and Shelley Smith made opening remarks and answered questions.

At 7:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
