MINUTES OF PROCEEDING Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Sarmite Bulte, Deepak Obhrai, Stan Dromisky, Gordon Earle, Raymonde Folco, Monique Guay, John N. McKay, Grant McNally, Réal Ménard, Maria Minna, John Reynolds and Diane St-Jacques. Acting Members present: John Finlay for Jacques Saada. In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Margaret Young, Research Officer. Witnesses: From the Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Greg Fyfe, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy; Gerry Campbell, Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations; Joan Atkinson, Director General, Selection. By unanimous consent, on motion of Réal Ménard, it was agreed, - That, when ever the Committee meets in camera, one assistant per Member be allowed into the room to attend the meeting. At 3:44 p.m., the Committee reverted to a public meeting. Witnesses: From the Immigration and Refugee Board: Paul Thibault, Executive Director; Philip Palmer, General Counsel; Jennifer Benimadhu, Director General, Corporate Services; Evelyn Levine, Director General, Policy, Planning and Research Branch. In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the mandate, management and operation of the Immigration and Refugee Board. Paul Thibault made an opening statement. Philip Palmer and Evelyn Levine gave a presentation and, with Jennifer Benimadhu, answered questions. At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair. |
