The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, David Pratt, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Leon Benoit, Peter Goldring, Judi Longfield, John O'Reilly, David Pratt, Geoff Regan, Peter Stoffer, Bryon Wilfert.
Acting Members present: Rob Anders for Roy Bailey, Jean-Guy Carignan for David Price.
Other Member present: Pat O'Brien.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Lt-Gen M.K. Jeffery, Chief of the Land Staff; Col Stephen Appleton, Director, Land Force Readiness; CWO Marius Dumont, Land Force Command, Chief Warrant Officer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee resumed its study on the state of readiness of the Canadian Forces.
Lieutenant-General Jeffery made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
