Meeting No. 73

Tuesday, February 23, 1999

The Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 7:09 p.m. this day, in the Battleford Room, Delta Bessborough Hotel, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, Jim Pankiw and Benoît Sauvageau.

Other Member present: Chris Axworthy.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wanda Noël, Consultant.

Round Table Participants: From the Canadian Artist Representation: Patrick Close, Executive Director. From the Diefenbaker and Civic Conservatory: Gilles Hébert, Director. From the Museums Association of Saskatchewan: Lee Boyko, Executive Director. From the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance: Terry Fenton, President. From the Saskatchewan Communications Network: Bruce Steele, Broadcast Project Coordinator. From the Saskatchewan Publishers Group: Bert Wolfe, President. From the Saskatchewan Western Development Museum: David F. Klatt, Executive Director. From the MacKenzie Art Gallery: Kate Davis, Director. From the Canadian Conference of the Arts: Jack Walton.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed consideration of a Canadian Cultural Policy.

The Chair made opening remarks.

The Members and participants proceeded to a round table discussion and invited comments from the audience.

At 9:13 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
