Tuesday, December 7, 1999
The Sub-Committee on Children & Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.
Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Christiane Gagnon, John Godfrey, Ovid Jackson and Eric Lowther.
Acting Member(s) present: Peter Adams for Diane Marleau, Maurice Vellacott for Eric Lowther, from 11:06 to 12:08 and from 12:53 to 13:34, Peter Stoffer for Libby Davies and Angela Vautour for Diane St-Jacques.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Sandra Harder and Bill Young, Research Officers.
Witness(es): From the Caledon Institute of Social Policy: Ken Battle, President; Sherri Torjman, Vice-President. From the Campaign 2000: Laurel Rothman, National Coordinator. As Individual: Jocelyn Tougas, Consultant on Child Care for Quebec. From the University of Toronto: Martha Friendly, Co-ordinator, Childcare Resource & Research Unit Centre for Urban & Community Studies.
Ken Battle and Sherri Torjman from the Caledon Institute of Social Policy, Laurel Rothman from Campaign 2000, Martha Friendly from the University of Toronto and Jocelyn Tougas, consultant on child care for Quebec, made a statement and answered questions.
At 1:22 p.m. the Committee proceeded to discuss its future business.
At 1:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
