MINUTES OF PROCEEDING

THURSDAY, March 12, 1998
The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:07 o’clock a.m., this day, in
room 209, West Block, the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Aileen Carroll, Maurice Dumas, Reed Elley, Grant Hill, Pauline Picard, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
Other Members present: Colleen Beaumier.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Nancy Miller-Chenier and Gérald Lafrenière, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of natural health products. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, November 20, 1997.)
Witnesses: As an individual: Dr. George A. Neville. From the Canadian Herb Society: Dr. Alison McCutcheon, Chair; Dr. Dennis Awang, Director. From the Gatekeepers of Health: Dr. Aileen Burford-Mason, Spokesperson; Joan Farano, Founding Member. From Shoppers Drug Mart Limited: Martin Belitz, Vice-President, Pharmacy Operations; Terry L. Creighton, Vice-President, Corporate Relations; Wendy Brown, Director of Marketing, Health Products. From Gordon Piller Inc.: Kim Piller. From Hilary's Distribution Inc.: Allan H. Ingles, President; Jennine Ingles-Rothblott, Director of Medical Research. From Maharishi Ayur-Veda Products of Canada: Russell C.
