The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:07 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 269 West Block, the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Aileen Carroll, Claude Drouin, Maurice Dumas, Grant Hill, Lynn Myers, Beth Phinney, Pauline Picard, Greg Thompson, Rose-Marie Ur, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Members present: Roy Bailey for Maurice Vellacott.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore and Nancy Miller-Chenier, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Health Canada: Dann Michols, Director General, Therapeutic Products Programme; Mary Carman, Director, Bureau of Pharmaceutical Assessment; Jean Lambert, Director, Quebec Region.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced consideration of natural health products.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 12:25 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
