MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 1998
The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 9:15 o’clock a.m., this day, in a televised session, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Dennis Mills, Denis Coderre, Pat O'Brien and Suzanne Tremblay.
Acting Members present: Carmen Provenzano for George Proud and Monte Solberg for Jim Abbott.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette, Research Officer.
Witness: From the Toronto Raptors: Richard Peddie, President and CEO. From the Vancouver Grizzlies: Stephen Bellringer, President and CEO, Orca Bay. From the National Basketball Association: Jeffrey A. Mishkin, Executive Vice-President & Chief Legal Officer. From NBA Canada, Inc.: Ken Derrett, Managing Director.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed the consideration of the Study of Sport in Canada.
Richard Peddie, Stephen Bellringer, Ken Derrett and Jeff Mishkin made opening statements and answered questions.
At 10:57 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
