MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 1998
The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:40 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 362-E, East Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Denis Coderre and Dennis Mills.
Acting Members present: Ivan Grose for George Proud.
Other Member present: John Cannis.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Soccer Association: Nick Filippone, Vice-President; and Kevan Pipe, Chief Operating Officer. From the Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association: Joyce Stewart, President. From the Ontario Soccer Association: Ed Grenda, President and Brian Avey, Executive Director. From the Canadian Lacrosse Association: Michael Lachapelle, General Manager and William Hutton, Chairman of the Board
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed the consideration of the Study of Sport in Canada.
Nick Filippone, Ed Grenda, Joyce Stewart, and Mike Lachapelle made opening statements and, with Brian Avey, Kevan Pipe and William Hutton, answered questions.
At 5:10 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
