Thursday, November 5, 1998
The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada met in a televised session at 3:30 o'clock p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.
Members of the Committee Sub-Committee present: Denis Coderre, Inky Mark, Dennis Mills, Pat O'Brien, George Proud and Suzanne Tremblay.
Acting Members present: Hec Cloutier for George Proud; John Cannis for Albina Guarnieri; Bill Matthews for Peter MacKay.
Other Member present: Joe Fontana.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette, Researcher.
Witnesses: From the Racetracks of Canada Inc.: Stephen Edwards, Executive Vice-President; Yvon Giguere, Simulcast Director; From the Canadian Hockey League: David Branch, President; Gilles Courteau, Vice-President; Dev Dley, Vice-President.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed consideration of the Study of Sport in Canada.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 6:00 o'clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
