MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 26

Monday, November 16, 1998

The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Denis Coderre, Dennis Mills, Pat O'Brien and Suzanne Tremblay.

Acting Members present: Eric Lowther for Inky Mark; John Cannis for Albina Guarnieri and John Solomon for Wendy Lill.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette and Kevin Kerr, Researchers.

Witnesses: From the International Olympic Committee: Richard Pound, Vice-President, International Olympic Committee and Past President, Canadian Olympic Association.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed consideration of its Study of Sport in Canada.

On motion of John Cannis, it was agreed,-- That the Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage authorize the Chair to print and append the evidence that was received in Toronto on November 10, 1998, to this day's meeting.

On motion of John Cannis, it was agreed, That the Chair seek the necessary funding from the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage and the authority of the House to reimburse the costs incurred by the Sub-Committee for it's meetings of November 10, 1998 in Toronto.

The witness made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
