MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
(Meeting No. 18)

MONDAY, MAY 25, 1998

The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:35 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Albina Guarnieri, Dennis Mills, Pat O'Brien, Nelson Riis and Suzanne Tremblay.

Acting Members present: Rick Borotsik for Peter G. MacKay; Yvon Charbonneau for Denis Coderre; and Carmen Provenzano for George Proud.

Other Member present: Tony Ianno; Janko Peric; Ivan Grose; Beth Phinney; Derek Lee; and Joe Comuzzi.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Toronto Blue Jays Club: Sam Pollock, Chairman and CEO; and Bob Nicholson, Executive Vice-President, Business.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed the consideration of the Study of Sport in Canada.

Sam Pollock made an opening statement and, with Bob Nicholson, answered questions.

At 5:38 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
