The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 11:10 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 209, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, Gilles Bernier, Roy Cullen, Pierre de Savoye, Yvon Godin, Ovid L. Jackson, Jerry Pickard, Ben Serré, Darrel Stinson and Brent St. Denis.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada: Dr. Tom Brzustowski, President; Janet Walden, Director General, Research Partnerships Program. From the Department of Finance: Paul Berg-Dick, Director, Business Income Tax Division; William Toms, Acting Senior Chief, Resource Taxation, Business Income Tax Division; Jack Jung, Senior Tax Policy Officer, Business Income Tax Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of knowledge and technology-based industries in the Natural Resources Sector.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 12:20 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
