The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 8:35 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 362-E, East Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: David Chatters, Roy Cullen, Jocelyne Girard-Bujold, Yvon Godin, Ovid L. Jackson, Jerry Pickard, Carmen Provenzano, Ben Serré and Brent St. Denis.

Substitute Members present: Stéphane Bergeron for Pierre de Savoye.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Research Officer.

Appearing: The Hon. Ralph Goodale, Minister of Natural Resources Canada.

Witnesses: From Natural Resources Canada: Jean C. McCloskey, Deputy Minister; Dr. Marc Denis Everell, Assistant Deputy Minister, Earth Sciences Sector; Sue Kirby, Director General, Energy Policy Branch, Energy Sector.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the terms of reference it adopted on April 23, 1998, a study on climate change.

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

At 9:56 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
